I was pleased to find out at the weekend that I’ve had two images commended in the 2017 Take a view, Landscape Photographer of the Year competition (see below).
It was also great to see one of them featured in the Sunday Times magazine, especially as I’ve previously had a wildlife shot (from the 2014 British Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards) featured in the same magazine.
Both images were taken from Latrigg Fell overlooking Keswick town and Derwentwater, one of my favourite locations. It was late December and I’d gone in the hope of photographing some snow and to walk off a few dozen mince pies. There was only a dusting of snow but the cloud inversion more than made up for it. It was a magical few hours as I watched the mist reveal then hide the town and lake below me.
Landscape photography is where it all started for me, so it’s great to have my work recognised in such a prestigious competition. I can’t wait to see the book and check out all the other photos.
