I could stand and watch Bass Rock all day long and it’s perhaps as well as I very nearly did filming these time-lapse videos. They were shot from 3 different vantage points, North Berwick, Tantallon Castle and the road in-between the two.
A once active volcano, Bass Rock is now home to 150,000 gannets, the world’s largest colony.
I love the way the light can turn the rock from a menacing black to brilliant white in such a short space of time. Keep an eye out for the various boats that visit the island and the one very large boat (I guess that makes it a ship) that sails by.
I’ve been lucky to have landed on Bass Rock twice and this footage will go very nicely with that I shot on the island.
It was filmed on a Nikon D850 using a Nikon 80-400mm lens.
